NWARPC NOTICE OF PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT MEETING WITH FHWA AND FTA OFFICIALS
The Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission (NWARPC) is providing an opportunity for the public to speak directly with Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) officials in a public involvement meeting concerning the public’s views on the transportation planning process in the Northwest Arkansas/Southwest Missouri area. The public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, 2026 from 4:30 pm until 5:30 pm at the office of NWARPC located at 1311 Clayton Street, Springdale, AR 72762. This public meeting is part of a Federal review that will assess compliance with Federal regulations pertaining to the transportation planning process conducted by the NWARPC, the Arkansas Department of Transportation, the Missouri Department of Transportation, Ozark Regional Transit, Razorback Transit and local units of government in the Northwest Arkansas area and a small portion of McDonald County, MO. TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (TIP) PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROCESS FOR PROGRAM OF PROJECTS (POP): The public participation procedures outlined in the NWARPC Public Participation Plan (PPP) with respect to TIP development serve as the public participation process required for the development of transit projects as per FTA Circular 9030.1E. Specifically, the public participation procedures outlined in the PPP will serve to satisfy the POP requirements of the Section 5307, Urbanized Area Formula Grant Program for the University of Arkansas/Razorback Transit and Ozark Regional Transit. The NARTS and any and all public transit operators will address the POP requirements as per FTA Circular 9030.1E. Additionally, any and all public transit operator’s capital projects and operational costs are included in the NARTS TIP which is developed through a cooperative and collaborative process with interested parties and other private and public transportation providers.
